About Us

Welcome to the Valley of the Moon Pétanque Club (VOMPC). In the late 1980s, pétanque was introduced to local players John Bouldt, Pierre Joske and John Kemble, through Sonoma’s Sister City relationship with the French village Chambolle-Musigny. These boulistes organized the Valley of the Moon Pétanque Club and soon, pétanque became a part of wine country living.

Over 30 years later, the VOMPC is now a diverse group of pétanque enthusiasts –male, female, and all ages and backgrounds. It is one of the largest and most active clubs in the United States and is affiliated with the Federation of Pétanque, USA (FPUSA).

We play at Depot Park, located just north of the historic Sonoma Plaza. In addition to monthly tournaments, there are casual and friendly gatherings of players nearly every afternoon. All are welcome – we love introducing the game to newcomers. For more information please contact us or call us at 707-291-2257
